Harrington has won three major championships, The Open Championship in 2007 and 2008 and the PGA Championship, also in 2008.

He was born in Dublin, Ireland, and his father, Garda, was football player, boxer, hurler and played to a five handicap in golf. After winning the Walker Cup with the Great Britain & Ireland team in 1995, Harrington turned professional, joining the European Tour in 1996. Due his successful seasons, he was invited for the 2004 Ryder Cup and became part of a European team that defeated the US by the largest winning margin by a European team in the history of event.

Harrington endured difficult seven seasons, since 2008, and won his first title on the European Tour or PGA Tours at the Honda Classic, in 2015. He married his childhood sweetheart Caroline, in 1997, and they have two sons.
